The three screens shown above illustrate, from top to bottom, the Handheld PC screens used respectively for Study Information, Data Collection, and Performance Rating. The top screen is used on the H/PC to enter basic study information. The analyst can add other relevant information once the study has been transferred to the desktop or notebook PC. The Study Information data can be saved as a template for continuing use on the same or similar time studies. The analyst can exercise either or both of two options, "Show Labels" and/or "Allows Sequencing." "Show Labels" puts the first four letters on each element's description on the Data Collection "button" that is used to record the elemental times and acts as a memory aid to the analyst. "Allow Sequencing" permits use of the "Enter" key in recording times and is useful for short elemental time recording. The screen shown in the center is used to collect the time data. Up to twenty (20) elements in a work cycle can be timed. The analyst has four (4) different time units to chose form (0.01 or 0.001 minute, or 0.0001 or 0.00001 hour). "Active Element Performance Rating" allows the analyst to record the pace rating of the operator during the study to reflect any changes in pace rate that occurs during the study spell. The analyst may also "Tag" any observation with a single alpha character code and a short description of what took place during the "tagged" elemental time. The number of cycles necessary to time for the accuracy desired is shown for the most recently timed element. The bottom screen is used to display the average performance ratings for the study if the "Active Element Performance Rating" feature is used. When all the information illustrated above is entered, the analyst simply selects "File" and "Save" and title the file appropriately. Once back in the engineering office, the file is downloaded for CITS analysis on the desktop/notebook PC.
