| The screen above shows the Data Management screen and an example of a histogram of the times for Element 3 (here the times in sequence as taken in the time study are shown). The Data Management screen allows the analyst to eliminate outliers and view histograms of each element's data distribution (either in sequence or as a relative frequency histogram). The analyst may go back and forth between the histogram and the Data Management screen to modify the data by eliminating outliers. Many analysts throw out a low value for every high value they exclude. Please, note the data cells at the bottom of the grid where the number of data points (times) for 95.4% confidence and +/- 10% accuracy are illustrated. As outlier time values are eliminated, the number of cycles for accuracy is reduced appropriately. For example, in Element #3, if observations #11 and #15 were excluded, the number of cycles to study for the accuracy desired would be reduced to 15. To determine the number of cycles for +/- 5% accuracy the analyst need only multiply the +/- 10% cycles by four (4). For example, in Element #2 above, the number of cycles required for 95.4% confidence and +/- 10% accuracy is 7 observations. For +/- 5% accuracy, the analyst should take four times as many or 28 cycles. |
